North Star Casino Expansion Reviewed
The tribal president of Stockbridge - Munsee, Bob Chicks, had announced that the tribe has plans for a major casino expansion of the North Star Casino in Wisconsin.
According to Chicks the plans are still in the early planning stages and they haven't announced it yet to the public because the plans have no tbeen completed or approved..
Chicks said that they are hoping for a resolution in the next thirty days. According to him, though the vote of the council is unpredictable, he is still expecting that the members of the council will favor the casino expansion.
The expansion program for the North Star Casino was presented to the council last July 8th but they were given additional push because of a reent court decision.
The legal decision made by the Wisconsin Supreme Court reaffirmed that the casinos can still operate and that tribal groups can negotiate for a casino expansion.
The ruling allows that the casino expansions can include popular games such as roulette, blackjack and craps.
Chicks said that the expansion of North Star Casino has wide support from the members and leaders of the tribal community and the group had been waiting for the final results of the Wisconsin Supreme Court in the Dairyland case.
